Erin Merchant, Counselor

Dr. Merchant desires to share God’s love through the therapeutic relationship.  She is committed to joining clients as they seek growth, healing, and meaning in life.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Dr. Merchant works with children, adolescents, adults and families in a variety of areas including:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions
  • Relationship challenges
  • Family conflict
  • Parenting
  • Self-image/identity issues
  • Stress
  • Spiritual concerns

Dr. Merchant is passionate about helping children grow and learn through the process of play therapy.  She holds a Certificate in Play Therapy and a Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy and is also Level 1 certified in the Gottman Method, a form of counseling that promotes healthy communication and intimacy in relationships.

Dr. Merchant completed her PhD at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development.  Her dissertation focused on promoting emotional communication and attachment in adoptive families. Dr. Merchant received her MA in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida.  She also received her BA in Psychology with an emphasis in Biblical Studies from Columbia International University.

Outside of work, Dr. Merchant enjoys spending time with her husband and family and relaxing with yoga.
