Hunter has had a lifelong passion of helping people who are experiencing life’s hardships and challenges. After a successful career in business, Hunter felt called to pursue that passion and became formally trained in counseling. Through navigating his own life transitions and challenges over the years, Hunter has developed a deep compassion and quiet listening style that enable him to understand the struggles that clients are facing. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Hunter helps individuals, couples, and families work through a variety of concerns including:
- Depression and anxiety
- Life stress and transition
- Grief and loss
- Marital and relationship conflict
- Communication issues
- Individual and family goal setting
- Physical issues and chronic illness
- Self-esteem issues
- Spiritual concerns
Hunter is experienced in Solution-Focused Therapy, in which the client and counselor work together to identify personal or relational goals and develop specific steps through which to accomplish them. Additionally, Hunter is currently pursuing further training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach to enhancing intimacy in relationships.
Hunter earned his MA in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received a BA in English and Psychology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Outside of work, Hunter enjoys playing golf, guitar, yoga, and spending quality time with family.
